Design Manager – Project Delivery - Transmission & Power Infrastructure

If you're an engineer with experience in transmission, utilities, mining infrastructure or power projects and you're looking to move away from purely technical design into a more project-focused delivery role, this could be the ideal next step.

I'm partnering with a highly regarded engineering consultancy delivering major transmission infrastructure projects across Western Australia and beyond. Due to continued project growth, they're seeking a Design Manager to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and drive the successful delivery of critical energy infrastructure projects ranging from 33kV to 330kV transmission systems.

Job Title: Design Manager – Project Delivery
Location: Perth, WA (also open to candidates based in SA)
Salary: $160,000 - $220,000 package inclusive + Annual Bonus + Salary Reviews
Length: Full Time, Permanent

The Role
This is a client-facing project delivery role where you'll coordinate engineering teams, manage design packages and work closely with major utility, energy and resources clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and on schedule.

You'll be responsible for driving projects forward, engaging with stakeholders, facilitating technical discussions and ensuring internal teams remain aligned throughout the project lifecycle. While a transmission background is advantageous, candidates from utilities, energy or mining infrastructure environments will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the delivery of transmission and power infrastructure projects from concept through to completion.
  • Manage multidisciplinary engineering and design teams across multiple project workstreams.
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders throughout project delivery.
  • Monitor project progress, risks, deliverables and programme milestones.
  • Facilitate technical discussions and provide project updates to clients and internal teams.
  • Support the development of practical, innovative and commercially focused project solutions.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in line with quality, safety and client expectations.
Key Experience
  • Degree qualified in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience within transmission lines, utilities, power, energy or mining infrastructure projects.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and client-facing communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities and drive projects to successful outcomes.
  • Solutions-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Experience managing or contributing to multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Around 5-6 years' experience is ideal, although more experienced candidates are welcome to apply.

Why This Role?
This opportunity offers the chance to step into a genuine project delivery position while maintaining exposure to technically complex infrastructure projects.

You'll join a growing consultancy with a strong pipeline of transmission projects, minimal bureaucracy and the ability to make decisions quickly. The business offers exposure to major projects across multiple regions of Australia, not just WA, along with clear career development opportunities.

Additional benefits include:
  • Regular salary reviews (typically around 5% annually).
  • Exposure to some of Australia's most significant transmission infrastructure projects.
  • Flexible working arrangements, including the option to work from home 1-2 days per week.
  • Collaborative and agile team environment with strong leadership support.
