Job Title: Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer

Location: Parlin, NJ 
Duration: Long-Term Contract
Work Arrangement: Onsite

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer to join our client’s team at their Parlin, NJ facility. This role involves applying advanced engineering principles to design, implement, and maintain electrical and instrumentation systems for production, maintenance, capital projects, and R&D initiatives. The ideal candidate will lead projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring compliance with industry standards and delivering safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership:
    • Serve as project lead for small projects or area lead for larger initiatives.
    • Define scope, develop estimates, and manage schedules and budgets.
    • Electrical Engineering:
      • Design and specify electrical systems including power generation, distribution (HV >35kV, MV 1kV–35kV, LV 120V–1kV), cabling, wiring, lighting, MCCs, grounding, lightning protection, and heat tracing.
      • Perform electrical calculations (load flow, short circuit, arc flash).
      • Assess quality and reliability of newly installed capital projects.
      • Prepare and interpret electrical drawings (Single Line, Three Line, Wiring, Physical) using MicroStation V8.
      • Instrumentation & Control:
        • Design and specify process control systems (DCS, PLCs, safety systems, analyzers, valves, field instrumentation).
        • Provide engineering support for commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting.
        • Compliance & Safety:
          • Ensure adherence to NFPA 70E/NEC, OSHA, IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, API standards.
          • Participate in Process Hazard Analysis and enforce electrical safety protocols.
          • Collaboration & Mentorship:
            • Interface with client cross-functional teams to define operating requirements.
            • Provide technical guidance to designers and junior engineers.
            • Project Execution:
              • Work closely with Construction Manager during FEL and oversee field activities.
              • Manage scope changes both technically and commercially.
              • Track project costs and forecasting monthly.
                Qualifications
                Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or Control Systems.
                • Minimum 8+ years in electrical engineering within chemical, refining, or biofuels industries.
                • Proven leadership in process design for capital projects, including budget and schedule management.
                • Strong knowledge of electrical power systems and industrial standards.
                • Familiarity with instrumentation and process control integration.
                • Preferred: Professional Engineering (P.E.) license.
