Job Title: Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer

Location: Medicine Hat Plant Site
Term: 12 months (as work is available)
Designation: Electrical Engineering Degree with P.Eng required
Experience: Minimum 6 years, able to work with limited oversight

Job Description The Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for leading, reviewing, designing, and coordinating medium- to high-complexity, multi-disciplinary projects across their full lifecycle. This includes early-stage research and definition, planning and estimating, detailed execution, commissioning, and project closeout. The role ensures all work adheres to established codes, internal engineering standards, and industry best practices.

In addition to project responsibilities, the E&I Engineer will provide specialized technical expertise to support ongoing plant operations. This includes diagnosing and resolving issues related to instrumentation, electrical systems, control systems, and safety systems to maintain reliability, performance, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support the engineering design of instrumentation and electrical systems across project phases.

  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and engineering guidelines.

  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to manage scope, schedule, cost, and risk.

  • Prepare engineering deliverables including specifications, drawings, estimates, and technical reports.

  • Participate in and support project commissioning and turnover activities.

  • Provide technical guidance to address plant issues related to instrumentation, electrical, control, and safety systems.

  • Work independently with minimal direction while supporting project stakeholders and plant operations.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation required.

  • Minimum 6 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in an industrial plant environment.

  • Experience in project coordination or project management considered an asset.

  • Strong understanding of instrumentation, electrical design, and control/safety systems.

  • Ability to work effectively with limited oversight and manage multiple priorities.
