Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Electrical Engineering Project Manager to lead the delivery of utility‑scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. This role combines advanced electrical engineering expertise with comprehensive EPC project management responsibilities, supporting initiatives from early design and development through construction, commissioning, and project handover.
The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in BESS, with strong knowledge of medium- and high-voltage electrical systems and grid‑connected energy storage applications. This position requires leadership, technical depth, and the ability to manage multi‑disciplinary teams in a dynamic project environment.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
  • Serve as the SME for electrical engineering across utility‑scale BESS projects.
  • Lead and review system architecture, including battery systems, PCS, MV/HV collection systems, transformers, and grid interconnection facilities.
  • Oversee or perform electrical design work such as single-line/three-line diagrams, grounding systems, protection studies, and SCADA/control system integration.
  • Review vendor and OEM documentation to ensure technical compliance with project requirements.
  • Ensure all engineering work complies with NEC, NFPA, IEEE, NESC, UL, and other applicable industry standards.

Project Management
  • Manage electrical engineering scope and deliverables throughout the EPC lifecycle—from NTP to commissioning.
  • Develop project schedules, engineering execution plans, deliverable matrices, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Lead coordination across civil, structural, controls, SCADA, procurement, and commissioning teams.
  • Support procurement with technical evaluations, clarifications, and vendor selection.
  • Facilitate design review meetings with internal teams, engineering partners, utilities, and regulatory stakeholders.

Utility & Stakeholder Coordination
  • Interface with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and regulatory entities for interconnection, grid compliance, and technical submissions.
  • Support interconnection studies, applications, and due‑diligence reviews.
  • Provide engineering expertise during testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning stages.

Construction & Commissioning Support
  • Respond to RFIs and resolve field engineering issues promptly.
  • Support electrical system testing, energization, and commissioning activities.
  • Review and approve commissioning procedures, test reports, as‑built documentation, and turnover packages.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 8–15+ years of electrical engineering experience within EPC project environments.
  • 5+ years of direct experience supporting or managing utility‑scale BESS projects.
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams or managing EPC energy projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of MV/HV electrical systems and grid‑connected energy storage technologies.
  • Proficiency with electrical design and analysis software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, CYME, PSCAD, AutoCAD).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with hybrid PV + BESS systems.
  • Familiarity with NERC/FERC requirements and interconnection processes.
  • Experience collaborating with owner’s engineers, lenders, or technical advisors.
