Electrical Systems Commissioning Engineer
📍 Geoje-si, South Korea for 12+ month contract
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Commissioning Engineer to support the commissioning and startup of a major FLNG project in South Korea.
In this role, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing electrical commissioning activities throughout the construction completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and handover phases. You will work closely with Construction, Commissioning, Operations, Maintenance, Vendors, and EPC Contractors to ensure electrical systems are installed, tested, and commissioned safely and efficiently.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a large-scale industrial project and play a key role in achieving safe and successful plant startup.
Key Responsibilities
Support the development and execution of startup and commissioning packages.
Coordinate commissioning activities for HV, MV, and LV electrical systems.
Participate in the preparation and maintenance of startup schedules and major project milestones.
Perform system walkdowns to verify construction completion and identify outstanding items.
Manage system turnover from Construction to Commissioning and from Commissioning to Operations.
Verify electrical systems are installed and tested in accordance with design specifications and vendor requirements.
Review and record engineering changes and as-built documentation.
Support equipment energization, functional testing, and startup activities.
Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and project stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
Ensure all commissioning activities comply with project procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards.
Act as the primary technical focal point for assigned electrical systems during commissioning and startup phases.
Support performance testing and final handover to the client.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Minimum 10 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, or Operations within the Oil & Gas, LNG, FPSO, FLNG or related industries.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on electrical commissioning experience on major industrial projects.
Proven experience supporting large-scale LNG projects through construction, commissioning, startup, and handover phases.
Strong experience with:
High Voltage (HV) Systems
Medium Voltage (MV) Systems
Low Voltage (LV) Systems
Strong understanding of electrical testing, commissioning, and startup processes.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous LNG facility commissioning and startup experience.
Experience on Greenfield and/or Brownfield projects.
Knowledge of international electrical standards such as IEC, IEEE, and NFPA.
Professional Engineer (PE) registration or equivalent certification.
EPC project experience preferred.
