Energy Marshal - Hutto Texas / Lancaster Texas The Energy Marshal is responsible for the safe execution, coordination, and verification of all energy isolation activities in accordance with the organization's Stored Energy Isolation Program. This role serves as the field leader for hazardous energy control, ensuring energy isolation procedures are implemented effectively, work activities are properly authorized, and all personnel understand and comply with established controls.

The Performing Energy Marshal partners closely with engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations teams to mitigate risk, maintain schedule integrity, and ensure the protection of personnel, equipment, and critical operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute and enforce the Hazardous Energy Control Program during active field operations and project execution.
• Perform, coordinate, and verify energy isolation activities in accordance with approved Stored Energy Isolation Plans.
• Implement applicable codes, standards, and project requirements as the basis for safe energy isolation practices.
• Administer Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) activities, including the application, verification, transfer, and removal of energy isolation devices.
• Coordinate group and individual LOTO activities and ensure all affected personnel understand their responsibilities.
• Verify zero-energy states prior to authorizing work activities and maintain control of active energy isolations.
• Provide real-time communication and status updates regarding ongoing isolation activities to project stakeholders.
• Coordinate with construction, commissioning, and operations teams to minimize impacts to critical systems and project schedules.
• Participate in High-Risk Activity (HRA) planning meetings and review Statements of Work (SOWs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Methods of Procedure (MOPs), and work permits to identify and control hazardous energy sources.
• Verify personnel qualifications, training requirements, and PPE compliance before hazardous energy work is performed.
• Support incident investigations related to energy isolation activities and provide recommendations for corrective actions and continuous improvement.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of isolation activities and contribute to project reporting requirements.
• Develop and implement controls for all forms of hazardous energy, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, thermal, and gravity-related energy sources.
• Conduct field audits and inspections to verify compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Serve as the primary field resource and subject matter expert for energy isolation activities.

Qualifications Technical Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of hazardous energy control principles and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) practices within mission-critical environments.
• Ability to interpret electrical one-line diagrams, P&IDs, construction drawings, and system redundancies to safely execute energy isolations.
• Experience performing energy isolation activities on large-scale construction, commissioning, or critical infrastructure projects.
• Working knowledge of MEP systems and critical equipment, including switchgear, UPS systems, generators, HVAC systems, and mechanical infrastructure.
• Knowledge of hazardous energy sources beyond electrical systems, including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, thermal, and gravity hazards.
• Familiarity with construction documentation, building management systems, and commissioning processes.
• Strong communication, leadership, and coordination skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple project teams and stakeholders.
• Minimum of 5 years of technical, field, commissioning, or construction experience in mission-critical or industrial environments.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of relevant safety experience, preferably within construction, energy, commissioning, or industrial environments.
• Experience performing electrical and/or mechanical commissioning activities.

Legal & Regulatory Requirements

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel between project sites as required.
• Familiarity with OSHA 29 CFR 1910/1926 requirements and other applicable industry regulations and standards.

Work Environment

• Combination of office and field-based work; comfortable working in active construction and operational environments while utilizing required PPE.
• Ability to walk, stand, climb, and navigate varying terrain and environmental conditions.
• Occasional evening, weekend, or off-hours work may be required to support project and operational needs.
