Job Summary:  

The Engineering Trainee is a technically proficient and motivated person to support the Engineering team goals. This role offers hands-on experience in designing, programming, and commissioning control systems for upstream, midstream, and downstream operations. This person will work on automation platforms, instrumentation, and safety systems that ensure efficient, reliable, and compliant products.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

• Assist in the design and commissioning of control systems for upstream (drilling, stimulation, completions, etc.), midstream  

(production equipment, pipeline infrastructure, etc.), and downstream (processing facilities, etc.)  

• Support PLC and algorithmic programming for real-time asset monitoring and control  

• Contribute to instrumentation setup including pressure, flow, temperature, and level sensors  

• Participate in loop checks, FMEA/MMTF testing, and emergency shutdown system validation  

• Help develop HMI interfaces and alarm management logic  

• Document system configurations, test results, and maintenance procedures  

• Collaborate with process, safety, and mechanical engineers on integrated automation solutions  

• Learn and apply industry standards and safety protocols (e.g., API, IEC, ISA)  

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:  

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronics, mechatronics, or other appropriate engineering disciplines  

• Basic knowledge of PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), SCADA platforms (e.g., Wonderware, GE iFIX)  

• Familiarity with industrial protocols (Modbus, OPC, HART)  

• Understanding of oil & gas processes and hazardous area instrumentation  

• Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, communication, and adaptability  

• Other Requirements: Willingness to travel to remote sites; safety certifications will be required
