About the Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Environmental / Regulatory Advisor II to support environmental compliance, regulatory affairs, and environmental management programs at a major industrial facility. This role serves as a key environmental and regulatory resource, providing oversight, guidance, and support for operational activities, capital projects, compliance initiatives, and environmental approvals.
The successful candidate will work closely with site operations, project teams, contractors, regulatory stakeholders, and environmental specialists to ensure compliance with applicable environmental legislation, approvals, permits, and industry best practices.

The successful candidate will work closely with site operations, project teams, contractors, regulatory stakeholders, and environmental specialists to ensure compliance with applicable environmental legislation, approvals, permits, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for environmental and regulatory matters at the site.
- Support environmental compliance programs and regulatory obligations across facility operations.
- Coordinate and oversee environmental approvals, permits, and regulatory submissions.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) and Regulatory Compliance Plans.
- Monitor compliance with environmental legislation, permits, approvals, and internal standards.
- Conduct regulatory reviews and assess the impact of emerging legislation and policy changes.
- Support internal compliance assessments, audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical environmental and regulatory guidance to operations and project teams.
- Support engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities from an environmental compliance perspective.
- Coordinate environmental consultants, technical specialists, and contractors as required.
- Review contractor environmental plans, waste management plans, spill response plans, and other environmental deliverables.
- Conduct site inspections and compliance assessments to verify adherence to regulatory and company requirements.
- Investigate, document, and report environmental compliance issues and support corrective action implementation.
- Track environmental performance metrics and prepare stewardship, compliance, and regulatory reports.
- Assist with environmental training, awareness programs, and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Support environmental aspects of facility projects, operational changes, and performance improvement initiatives.

- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering (environmental focus), Natural Resource Management, or a related discipline.
- 5-10 years of environmental and/or regulatory experience within industry, consulting, government, energy, refining, manufacturing, construction, or other regulated sectors.
- Strong understanding of environmental compliance, permitting, and regulatory processes.
- Working knowledge of Alberta environmental legislation, regulations, and approval requirements.
- Experience developing and implementing environmental management and compliance programs.
- Experience supporting environmental audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience within industrial, refining, energy, construction, or resource-based operations.
- Background working with environmental consultants, regulatory agencies, or government organizations.
- Experience with Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), compliance management systems, and regulatory reporting.
- Familiarity with environmental performance monitoring and sustainability initiatives.
