Environmental Advisor – Oil & Gas – 6 month contract

The Offshore Environmental Advisor provides technical environmental expertise to support offshore operations, maintenance and projects, ensuring compliance with approved Environment Plans, regulatory approvals and company environmental management systems. The role supports the maintenance of Offshore environmental compliance and License to Operate through operational oversight, assurance activities and regulatory engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day to day environmental advice and guidance to Offshore Leadership Teams, OIMS coordination, wells and project teams and contractors across all offshore facilities and vessels.
  • Support the management of environmental incidents, including regulatory notifications, incident investigation, response advice and corrective actions.
  • Develop, maintain and periodically update Offshore Environment Plans, Environmental Assessments and supporting documentation, including baseline aspects and impacts risk assessments.
  • Review, assess and endorse environmental Management of Change (MoC) submissions for chemicals, activities and projects, including confirmation of coverage under an in force Environment Plan.
  • Identify required environmental regulatory approvals for offshore activities and projects, and support the implementation of compliance plans.
  • Coordinate and oversee environmental monitoring and measurement programs, including discharges, emissions, resource use and waste streams.
  • Deliver internal and external environmental reporting, including KPI reporting, regulatory notifications, annual reports, trend analysis and compliance reviews.
  • Support offshore audits, inspections and assurance activities, including EP compliance audits, OIMS expectations, regulatory inspections and vessel/facility audits.
  • Manage environmental inputs to vessel onboarding, pre mobilisation reviews and contractor environmental familiarisation and training.
  • Provide technical environmental input to offshore emergency preparedness and response activities, including exercises, drills and incident response support.
  • Contribute to stakeholder and community engagement activities by providing environmental data, advice and support as required.
  • Monitor changes in environmental legislation and regulatory expectations, update relevant systems and documentation, and provide guidance to the business on required actions.
  • Contribute to offshore environmental improvement initiatives and environmental planning activities, including input to asset and business planning processes.
  • Provide support and coverage to other Environmental Advisors/Engineers as required.
