Description:
The Fabric Maintenance Technical Advisor & Coatings supports fabric maintenance operations across Gulf of America assets, with a primary focus on protective coatings, thermal insulation, and passive fire protection systems. This role provides technical expertise to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective asset integrity practices while partnering with Mechanical Integrity, laboratory specialists, coating manufacturers, inspectors, contractors, and operations personnel.
The position is highly technical in nature and requires extensive offshore and onshore collaboration to support coating programs, inspections, maintenance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives across offshore facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and evaluate coating technologies for offshore applications, including anti-corrosion, thermal insulation, and marine environment protection systems.
Design and execute laboratory and field trials to assess coating performance under offshore operating conditions.
Perform failure analysis investigations and identify root causes of coating system deficiencies.
Conduct QA/QC audits and inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards, specifications, and best practices.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including coating specifications, procedures, inspection protocols, and test reports.
Provide technical guidance during project planning, execution, and post-installation activities.
Evaluate coating materials and application methods to ensure long-term asset integrity and reliability.
Participate in contractor and vendor qualification reviews, audits, and performance evaluations.
Support risk assessments and materials selection for offshore assets based on environmental and operational exposure.
Coordinate with third-party laboratories and certification organizations for testing and product validation.
Identify and implement new technologies, surface preparation methods, and sustainable coating solutions.
Stay current on emerging coating technologies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma required.
AMPP (formerly NACE/SSPC) certification preferred.
Experience
Minimum 10 years of oil and gas industry experience.
Gulf of America experience preferred.
Experience supporting offshore facilities, asset integrity programs, coatings, insulation, and corrosion control initiatives.
Technical Knowledge
Advanced knowledge of AMPP, NACE, SSPC, or equivalent coating and fabric maintenance standards.
Advanced knowledge of protective coating systems, materials, and specifications.
Advanced knowledge of insulation and thermal coating system requirements.
Experience with coating inspection, testing, and quality control methodologies.
Understanding of failure analysis and root cause investigation techniques.
Technical documentation and report-writing capabilities.
Knowledge of offshore and onshore operating environments.
Skills & Competencies
Strong expertise in protective coatings and corrosion prevention.
Surface preparation and coating application knowledge.
Inspection, testing, and quality assurance experience.
