ABOUT THE PROJECT
Our client is developing one of the world's largest LNG projects — a two-train onshore LNG facility with a combined capacity of 13 mtpa, located in the Cabo Delgado province, Northern Mozambique. The project encompasses LNG and condensate storage, marine loading facilities, and extensive site infrastructure serving a peak workforce of 15,000 personnel.
ROLE OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Site Services Manager, the Facilities & Services Coordinator (Superintendent) is responsible for the coordination, execution, and monitoring of day-to-day operations and maintenance activities across site camps, utilities, and waste management. You will ensure that all facilities and utilities are available, maintained, and operated in line with project requirements, HSE standards, and approved maintenance plans.

This is a rotational position based in Afungi, Northern Mozambique — a remote location requiring adaptability and resilience. The project operates within a multinational joint-venture framework with high social performance standards. Site-specific health, security, and environmental mitigation measures are in place.

Reporting to the Site Services Manager, the Facilities & Services Coordinator (Superintendent) is responsible for the coordination, execution, and monitoring of day-to-day operations and maintenance activities across site camps, utilities, and waste management. You will ensure that all facilities and utilities are available, maintained, and operated in line with project requirements, HSE standards, and approved maintenance plans.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Champion HSE compliance and safety leadership across all facilities activities; lead by example and inspire contractor teams.
- Ensure production continuity of power generation, WTP, STP, waste management, camp management, fire alarm systems, and utility networks (water, sewage, electrical).
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities for all facilities and utilities; develop and optimise maintenance strategies.
- Monitor contractor performance against SOWs, maintenance procedures, and HSE requirements; report issues to the Site Services Manager.
- Track maintenance schedules, work orders, completion status, and produce KPIs (PM compliance, equipment uptime/downtime, response and repair times).
- Coordinate shutdowns, breakdown interventions, and recovery actions.
- Monitor and report asset conditions and risks; develop action plans to address reliability or performance gaps.
- Review invoices and incoming quotations against supporting documentation.
- Support risk assessments, work permit implementation, toolbox talks, site inspections, and audits.
- Drive CMMS/SAP PM implementation for maintenance tracking.
- Gather and validate lessons learned across the project team.
Education & Experience
- Technical Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Facility Management or equivalent discipline.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in facilities management, utilities, waste management, or related fields; remote site experience strongly preferred.
- Solid experience in refurbishment and construction environments is an advantage.
- Proven track record managing CMMS/SAP/SAP PM or equivalent maintenance management platforms.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Project). • Strong database management skills.
- Professional-level English (written and spoken) required.
- Self-motivated, analytical, and able to work under pressure in autonomous remote environments.
- Strong organisational rigour, anticipation skills, and effective cross-functional communication.
- Active team player capable of integrating into multicultural, multidisciplinary environments.
