Federal Telecommunications Engineer

Rate: Starts at $50/hr
Schedule: 40-hours per week
Contract Type: 6-months (Temp-to-perm)
Location: Onsite- 5 days/week in Overland Park, KS 66251 / Denver, CO / Arlington, VA / Dallas, TX (depends on candidate location)

In this role, you will perform the following:

• Lead communication designs and coordinate with other disciplines
• Create conceptual and detailed systems designs, including producing design drawings, specifications and design analysis deliverables
• Coordinate with a BIM/CAD team for drawing production
• Perform quality control duties and independent technical reviews
• Manage assigned budgets, scopes and schedules
• Mentoring and providing guidance/instruction to less experienced staff members
• As part of this role, you will be assigned to projects supporting U.S. Government Agency/Department clients.

Other potential duties:

• Perform fieldwork and write assessment reports
• Assist with creation of design guides and templates
• Provide support to business development or pursuit activities

Preferred qualifications:

• Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA, BICSI industry standards, codes and best practices related to the design of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), low voltage, and telecommunications systems
• Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification (required)
• Certified Technology Specialist-Design (CTS-D) certification (preferred)
• Strong knowledge of structured cabling systems from a safety and constructability perspective
• Strong knowledge of inside plant (ISP) cabling infrastructure to include telecommunications spaces and pathways, copper, and optical fibre cabling and connectivity
• Experience in outside plant (OSP) design of copper and fibre optic communication systems
• Experience in audio-visual (AV) system design
• 4+ years of experience designing applicable telecommunication systems

Requirements:
