Field Quantity Surveyor – Gathering | 12 month contract | 19/9 FIFO roster

NES Fircroft is currently recruiting for an experienced Field Quantity Surveyor to support a major oil & gas gathering project based in the Surat Basin.

This is a site-based role working closely with construction and contractor teams to improve commercial transparency, cost control, productivity, and overall project execution performance under a reimbursable/day-rate delivery model.
The role will suit candidates with a strong background in quantity surveying, construction cost control, project controls, or contractor commercial management within oil & gas, pipelines, or major infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review contractor daily reports, timesheets, and workforce/equipment utilisation against actual site activity
  • Verify construction progress and installed quantities through regular field inspections and spot checks
  • Monitor productivity, tool time, crew performance, and construction sequencing
  • Identify emerging cost, schedule, and productivity risks across gathering construction activities
  • Support validation of contractor claims, variations, and commercial impacts
  • Provide reporting and commercial insights to site leadership teams
  • Benchmark productivity against industry standards and comparable construction activities
  • Participate in site walks, construction meetings, and stakeholder coordination activities
  • Build strong working relationships with construction, project controls, and contractor teams onsite
About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
  • 5+ years’ experience in quantity surveying, construction cost control, project controls, or commercial advisory roles
  • Experience within oil & gas, pipelines, civil construction, mining, or heavy infrastructure environments
  • Strong understanding of reimbursable, unit rate, and lump sum contract models
  • Experience working closely with contractors in a field-based environment
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to identify productivity trends and commercial risks onsite
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and cost tracking/reporting systems
Exposure to HDPE water or gas gathering pipeline systems will be highly regarded.
