Job Summary:
The HSE Advisor/Specialist III is responsible for delivering advanced health, safety, and environmental support to Operations, Commissioning, and Maintenance teams. This role plays a key part in driving safety excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a proactive safety culture across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
Safe Operations
  • Lead the development and implementation of HSE standards, procedures, and Safe Work Practices.
  • Provide in-field coaching and training to personnel on safety protocols.
  • Mentor teams in Safe Work Permitting, Control of Hazardous Energy, JSA development, Behavior-Based Observations, and Field Level Hazard Assessments.
  • Ensure consistent application of HSE systems, tools, and controls across all teams.
  • Participate in Pre-Startup Safety Reviews and recommend procedural improvements.
Risk Assessment & Management
  • Conduct audits, analyze safety data, and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in and coach teams through risk analysis processes including JSA and HAZOP.
  • Support the development of proactive and leading safety performance metrics.
Emergency Response
  • Engage in emergency response planning and training at all levels.
Personnel Competency & Training
  • Audit third-party service providers for compliance and competency.
  • Lead or support incident investigations across commissioning, maintenance, and operations.
  • Assist in managing workplace injury and illness cases.
Communication & Documentation
  • Create and distribute safety communications to Sunrise District personnel and contractors.
  • Promote a clear safety vision and foster a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
Contractor Management
  • Participate in contractor performance evaluations and safety system audits.
  • Support contractor onboarding and integration.
  • Contribute to monthly and quarterly Sunrise Program and OilSkills reporting.

Qualifications:
  • Education/Certification:
    • NCSO designation or post-secondary certificate/diploma in a related field
    • CSTS certification
    • Experience:
      • Minimum 2–4 years of direct field experience in oil and gas
      • Strong understanding of Occupational Health & Safety legislation and regulations
      • Skills:
        • Passion for safety excellence
        • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint
        • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
        • Strong leadership and analytical skills
        • Ability to work independently
        • Solid understanding of root cause analysis
