Job Title: HSE Consultant
Location: Northern Saskatchewan
Length: 1 Year (with potential extension)
Rotation: 5 days on / 2 days off
Role Summary
The Consultant will provide Health, Safety, Environment, Risk, and Regulatory (SHERR) support to Exploration operations through field inspections, management system reviews, equipment provisioning, and other related activities. The role requires extensive travel to remote exploration sites and the ability to work independently while maintaining compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.

Role Summary
The Consultant will provide Health, Safety, Environment, Risk, and Regulatory (SHERR) support to Exploration operations through field inspections, management system reviews, equipment provisioning, and other related activities. The role requires extensive travel to remote exploration sites and the ability to work independently while maintaining compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Inspecting Active Exploration Sites
- Serve as the primary Consultant responsible for conducting in-person inspections of all Exploration work sites operating from temporary or permanent work camps (e.g., mine sites).
- Conduct inspections of temporary work camp projects with a focus on Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance.
- Work alongside a secondary Consultant when required, as all on-site inspections must be completed in pairs.
- Prepare and submit inspection reports to the SHERR Coordinator, Exploration, within ten (10) business days, including:
- Completed inspection checklists
- Summary of findings
- Recommended corrective actions
- Travel to remote locations accessible by gravel roads, snowmobiles, ATVs, and helicopters.
Review of Integrated Management System Documentation
- Conduct reviews of existing Exploration orientation and induction training materials and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Provide recommendations for training materials intended for inclusion in ISNetworld and assist in creating, drafting, or revising associated content.
- Recommend improvements to existing documentation and systems where appropriate.
- Support the review and enhancement of hazard identification methodologies and Exploration's risk register.
- Develop and deliver training on new materials and methodologies to align with Orano's McClean Lake Operation standards.
Role Scope
- Supports safe and compliant exploration activities through field inspections, audits, and technical reviews.
- Promotes continuous improvement in Health, Safety, Environment, Risk, and Regulatory performance.
- Provides recommendations to improve training, documentation, risk management practices, and field operations.
- Maintains professional communication with exploration teams, contractors, and SHERR stakeholders.
- Contributes to the effective implementation and maintenance of Exploration management systems.
Qualifications
- Experience conducting field-based HSE, SHERR, or operational compliance inspections.
- Strong understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment, and audit processes.
- Experience working in remote and seasonal field environments.
- Knowledge of exploration, mining, or industrial work camp operations would be considered an asset.
- Strong report-writing, facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to travel extensively and work in remote locations under varying environmental conditions.
Working Conditions
- Frequent travel to remote exploration sites.
- Seasonal field activity with increased inspection requirements during winter and summer exploration programs.
- Travel may include transportation by gravel road, ATV, snowmobile, and helicopter.
- Work conducted both in field environments and office settings as required.
