Location: Taupo and Taranaki Regions

This is a unique opportunity to work on New Zealand's most exciting energy projects within the rapidly growing geothermal industry in the Taupo region (including New Zealand’s pioneering Superhot geothermal exploration project) as well as other renewable geothermal projects and conventional oil and gas energy work.

The opportunity:
In this even time roster role with projects planned from contract to contract for at least the next two years, we are seeking an experienced HSE Officer to support a range of high-profile energy projects across Taupo and Taranaki. Candidates will play a key role in promoting and maintaining a strong health, safety and environmental culture while supporting drilling and exploration operations with leading energy operators. A particular highlight will be involvement in the Superhot geothermal exploration project, a groundbreaking initiative and a first-of-its-kind project in New Zealand.

The role will involve supporting the implementation, monitoring, reporting and continuous improvement of health, safety and environmental systems associated with drilling operations. You will assist with inspections, audits, incident investigations, training, toolbox talks, compliance monitoring and environmental management activities.

You will maintain accurate records and reporting, support emergency preparedness initiatives, work closely with rig crews and contractors, and ensure all work is carried out in compliance with applicable New Zealand health, safety, environmental and workplace requirements. The HSE Officer may also undertake any other duties reasonably associated with the role and required to support Company operations.

You must have:
  • Relevant HSE, industrial, trade or operational experience
  • Strong commitment to health, safety and environmental excellence
  • Good communication, reporting and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work rostered shifts and in demanding outdoor environments
Highly Desirable:
  • Previous HSE experience within the oil and gas, drilling, or geothermal sectors
  • Land-based drilling rig experience
  • Current industry or HSE-related certifications and training
We can only look at those with the current legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
