Our Client, a global Oil and Gas Operator has an exciting opportunity for a Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Specialist to join the Perth office on a 2-year contract. The role will be a member of the Asset Retirement HSE Team, reporting to the Asset Retirement HSE Team Lead, with day-to-day involvement with the Offshore & Onshore Project Teams.  The role will be based in Perth with occasional site travel and a need to provide field cover for leave.

 Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Demonstrated ability as an OE Champion who leads with a ‘one team’ approach interfacing with multiple teams and collaborating effectively with others.
  • Development of HSE systems and processes to Asset Retirement. 
  • Ability to work independently and build strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders including leaders, field and frontline personnel and business partners in both onshore and offshore environments.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing business needs and priorities.
  • Practical problem-solving skills with strong planning and project management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills that can be tailored to the audience (e.g., developing and delivering presentations, leading discussions, facilitating meetings with a drive to reach consensus)
  • Providing technical HSE guidance on risks and safeguards associated with Asset Retirement Offshore & Onshore to enable their integration into project planning through to execution.
  • Knowledge and application of relevant Western Australian and Commonwealth HSE legislation and approvals.
  • Experience in the practical application of Workforce HSE Culture and Human & Organisational Performance and how this is applied to Asset Retirement.
Key Skills/Experience:
  • Leadership and Influencing Skills – Demonstrated ability to influence without authority, work independently and build strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders including regulators, leaders, business partner leaders, and the broader workforce including frontline and onsite personnel.
  • Broad Technical HSE Understanding – Experience across technical health & safety, environmental compliance, risk assessment and assurance of contractors. Ability to foresee potential HSE challenges in the planning phase and influence their resolution prior to project execution.
  • Ability to identify issues that need resolving, prioritise and frame key decisions that need to be made, propose alternatives in collaboration with key SMEs, identify and engage stakeholders and drive alignment in order to reach a decision.
  • Coaching and mentoring others – Demonstrated ability to support colleagues in developing their own HSE technical and leadership skills, coordinating groups of people, aligning teams to work towards a common goal.
