Title: Instrument Technician (Industrial Instrumentation & Controls)
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Location: Cochrane, Ontario
Schedule: Day shift, Monday–Friday, with on-call rotation

Position Summary The Instrument Technician will be responsible for maintaining, calibrating, troubleshooting, and improving the facility’s field instrumentation and control systems. The role supports the safe, compliant, and reliable operation of a natural-gas-fired power generation facility, including gas turbine, HRSG, boiler, water treatment, emissions monitoring, safety, and revenue-grade instrumentation systems.

This is a site-based role supporting daily plant operations, regulatory compliance, and call-out response as required.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Valid Industrial Instrument Mechanic (442A) Certificate of Qualification, Red Seal Instrumentation & Control Technician, or eligible interprovincial equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years post-certification experience in industrial instrumentation and control
  • Experience in at least three of the following environments:
    • Gas or steam turbine generating stations
    • HRSG or industrial boiler plants
    • Natural gas processing or compression
    • Pulp and paper recovery boilers
    • Chemical or refinery process units
  • College diploma or certificate in Instrumentation, Process Control, or Electromechanical Technology (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience with pressure, temperature, level, flow, vibration, and analytical instrumentation
  • Experience with loop calibration, HART configuration, and reading PLC/DCS systems
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop sheets, and termination drawings
  • Working knowledge of applicable safety, electrical, and technical regulations
  • Professional working proficiency in English (written and spoken)
