Position Title: JS.CRO.017 Quality Control Officer
Grade: NJS 10
The National Judicial Staff Services (NJSS) has initiated a major organisational restructure to strengthen its workforce and enhance the delivery of efficient, effective, and quality support services to the Judiciary and courts throughout Papua New Guinea. We invite suitably qualified, experienced, and motivated Papua New Guineans to apply for the position of Quality Control Officer within the Quality Control unit based in Waigani.
Role Overview:
The Quality Control Officer will report to & support the Assistant Chief Quality Controller by directly contributing to the judicial process's integrity through meticulous transcript review and verification. This position is instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and adherence of court transcripts to the official Transcript Style Manual, as well as their alignment with audio recordings. The role is crucial for delivering precise and timely transcripts to judges, legal counsel, and involved parties, thereby upholding the highest standards of reliability and accuracy in court reporting.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough reviews of transcripts to ensure accuracy and conformity with the Transcript Style Manual.
- Verify the alignment of transcripts with audio recordings, noting any discrepancies.
- Identify typographical, formatting, and factual errors in transcripts, making necessary corrections.
- Ensure the timely production and delivery of transcripts to all stakeholders.
- Prepare detailed reports on findings from transcript reviews for the Assistant Chief Quality Controller.
- Liaise with Assistant Team Leaders-Quality Control on the weekly work plan.
- Maintain accurate records of reviewed transcripts and outcomes for quality control tracking.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss quality control issues and solutions.
- Participate in regular training sessions to stay updated on best practices in transcript production and quality control.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Chief QC.
- Diploma in Office Administration, Communication or equivalent.
- Certification in court reporting service.
- 3 years of experience in court reporting service as a Court Reporting Officer.
- General knowledge of legal terminology and court proceedings.
- Thorough understanding of transcript production and review processes.
- Working knowledge of FTR Recording and transcription digital system.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Proficiency in transcription and word processing software.
- Commitment to accuracy & quality.
- High level of integrity.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Diploma in Office Administration or equivalent.
- Experienced Court Reporting Officer.
- 3 years or more experience in quality control.
- Extensive experience in a production environment
