Position Title: JS.ITB.061 Network Officer
Grade: NJS 11
The National Judicial Staff Services (NJSS) has initiated a major organisational restructure to strengthen its workforce and enhance the delivery of efficient, effective, and quality support services to the Judiciary and courts throughout Papua New Guinea. We invite suitably qualified, experienced, and motivated Papua New Guineans to apply for the position of Network Officer within the Infrastructure unit based in HQ - Waigani, POM.
Role Overview:
Assist with the provision of specialist advice and guidance on ICT network, telecommunications and network system designs, policies, strategies, and architectures, as requested by their Network Engineer or other IT Teams within the organization. Assist with planning IT network, telecommunications and network security systems strategy and architecture over the medium term. Assist others IT Teams with their long-term planning of systems introductions. To assist in effectively dealing with network enquiries from all sources (Judges, Judges Support Staff, Registry Staff and Corporate Staff), including telephone callers and personal visitors as per tickets assigned. Establish a good working relationship with other IT teams to capture their requirements in enforcing routing rules. Ensure visions of the organization are implemented in terms of IT aspects of the vision. Report to Team Leader and Manager any issues that require escalation or their intervention, approval, or opinion. The Job Description may be revised as and when required in accordance with legislation and policy. Any directive and circular issued by the Secretary as and when required are to be deemed as part of the job description. National Judicial Staff Service Act 1987 and other relevant legislation. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor network traffic to ensure network availability to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability
- Install, configure switches and routers , and support the organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet systems
- Troubleshoot and repair when problems arise.
- Maintain and support the communications network server software and hardware.
- Ensure network security measures are implemented and enforced.
- Perform backups of communications equipment, servers, and communications hardware.
- Manage network servers, including file servers, VPN gateways, and intrusion detection systems.
- Logging incidents and services requests with the Helpdesk System.
- Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation.
- Performing other duties as required by the Team Leader, Manager and IT Director.
- Diploma in a recognized Institutions, in Computer Science or Information Technology or related courses.
- 3 years in IT Support.
- Relevant IT/Industry experience in HP Switches and Routers.
- Relevant IT/Industry experience with Cisco Systems.
- Experience in Sophos Appliances.
- Display confidence when dealing with people, with well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
