Position Title: JS.REG.008 Registrars Trust Account Officer
Grade: NJS 09

The National Judicial Staff Services (NJSS) has initiated a major organisational restructure to strengthen its workforce and enhance the delivery of efficient, effective, and quality support services to the Judiciary and courts throughout Papua New Guinea. We invite suitably qualified, experienced, and motivated Papua New Guineans to apply for the position of Registrars Trust Account Officer within the Registrar’s Office based in Waigani.

Role Overview:

The Registrars Trust Account Officer supports the comprehensive management and oversight of trust accounts for the National and Supreme Courts. The role contributes to accurate financial transactions, record keeping, reporting, compliance, audits, and improvement of financial management processes to maintain the integrity of court trust accounts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in processing and managing trust account financial transactions accurately and in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Support the maintenance of detailed financial records and preparation of regular financial statements.
  • Contribute to financial analysis and reporting for the OIC Trust Accountant and relevant stakeholders.
  • Help ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with legal staff and other departments to support comprehensive financial management of civil cases.
  • Participate in financial audits and support implementation of recommendations.
  • Assist in developing and implementing financial policies and procedures for efficient trust account operations.
  • Provide high-quality service to internal and external customers.
  • Assist with Auditor General queries relating to trust account matters.
  • Maintain accurate records of monies, receipts, payments, cheque transactions, and supporting documentation.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in financial management or accounting, with a focus on trust accounts or legal financial operations.
  • Understanding of financial regulations, compliance requirements, and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems.
Preferred
  • Advanced Diploma in Business, Finance, or related fields.
  • Experience in the legal or judicial sector, particularly in managing financial aspects of court trust accounts.
This role requires financial accuracy, integrity, confidentiality, and a strong understanding of compliance obligations to support secure and effective court trust account operations.
