Position Title: JS.RPC.041 Public Relations Officer
Grade: NJS 05

The National Judicial Staff Services (NJSS) has initiated a major organisational restructure to strengthen its workforce and enhance the delivery of efficient, effective, and quality support services to the Judiciary and courts throughout Papua New Guinea. We invite suitably qualified, experienced, and motivated Papua New Guineans to apply for the position of Public Relations Officer within the Stakeholder Relations unit based in Waigani.

Role Overview:
To manage the public image and communication efforts of the Court Registry Stakeholders division, ensuring that information about its activities, initiatives, and achievements is effectively communicated to the public and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a public relations strategy that aligns with the division’s goals and objectives.
  • Craft and distribute press releases and communication materials to media and stakeholders.
  • Manage and update the division’s website and social media profiles with current news and information.
  • Monitor media coverage and public perceptions of the division, responding to inquiries and comments.
  • Organize public events, such as forums and workshops, to engage with the community and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with journalists and media outlets.
  • Provide communication support and advice to division staff and management.
  • Create and distribute regular newsletters to stakeholders and the public.
  • Conduct public opinion research to guide communication strategies and messages.
  • Manage crisis communication, ensuring accurate and timely information is disseminated during sensitive situations.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Diploma in Journalism & Public Relations.
  • 2 years of experience in public relations, media relations, or communication.
  • Knowledge of legal requirements and best practices in policy & planning.
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills.
  • Proficiency in digital communication platforms and social media.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage sensitive information.
Preferred
  • Advance Diploma in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
  • More than 2 years of experience in a public relations or communication role.
  • Prior experience in the legal or judicial sector.
