Position Title: JS.SAM.017 Sergeant Process Enforcement Officer
Grade: NJS 08
The National Judicial Staff Services (NJSS) has initiated a major organisational restructure to strengthen its workforce and enhance the delivery of efficient, effective, and quality support services to the Judiciary and courts throughout Papua New Guinea. We invite suitably qualified, experienced, and motivated Papua New Guineans to apply for the position of Sergeant Process Enforcement Officer Momase within the Sheriff Enforcement unit based in Waigani.
Role Overview:
The Sergeant Process Enforcement Officer – Momase Region is instrumental in the operational execution and enforcement of court orders and legal judgments within the Momase Region. Positioned within the Sheriff Enforcement unit, this role ensures the detailed and diligent implementation of the judiciary's directives, contributing significantly to the law's upholding and the maintenance of public trust. This position operates under the Senior Sheriff Process Enforcement Officer – Momase Region, playing a crucial role in the day-to-day effectiveness and success of enforcement operations in the area. Supreme Court Act. National Court Act. Sheriff Act. Supreme Court Rules. National Court Rules. Practice Directions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Execute court orders and legal judgments within the Momase Region.
  • Plan, supervise, and coordinate daily field operations, ensuring effective team deployment.
  • Ensure that all enforcement actions comply with current legal and procedural guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication channels within the team and with external agencies.
  • Review and analyse the outcomes of enforcement actions to identify areas for improvement.
  • Train and mentor team members in enforcement procedures and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all enforcement activities and decisions.
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports on enforcement operations to senior officers.
  • Act as a liaison between the enforcement team and external stakeholders to support operational goals.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Diploma in Legal studies
  • At least 3 years of experience in law enforcement or legal enforcement, with a strong emphasis on field operations and process enforcement.
  • Familiarity with the legal system, enforcement procedures, and court order execution processes sufficient to oversee detailed operations and resolve straightforward issues.
  • A broad understanding of law enforcement principles and the operational execution of legal judgments.
  • In-depth knowledge of legal and procedural guidelines governing enforcement actions, enabling the provision of expert advice and guidance on complex enforcement scenarios.
  • Strong observational and situational awareness.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Quick decision-making and problem-solving during operations.
  • High ethical standards and integrity.
  • Ability to stay calm and make effective decisions under pressure.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Preferred
  • Diploma in Legal studies, Public Administration, or related areas.
  • Specialized training in Law enforcement
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role within law enforcement or legal enforcement, with specific experience in process enforcement.
