Location: St. Charles Parish, LA
Duration: 12 months
Rate: $30-35 per hour
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Laboratory Technician / Field Sampling Technician to support laboratory operations and field sample collection activities within an industrial refinery environment. This position combines hands-on laboratory testing with field sampling responsibilities, requiring strong attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
The ideal candidate will have a background in chemistry, environmental science, laboratory operations, or industrial field services. Experience working in refinery, petrochemical, or manufacturing environments is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
- Collect product, process, water, and environmental samples from designated refinery and industrial locations.
- Safely transport and document samples in accordance with established procedures and chain-of-custody requirements.
- Perform routine laboratory analyses using standard testing methods and laboratory equipment.
- Prepare samples for chemical and physical testing.
- Maintain accurate records of sample collection activities, test results, and laboratory observations.
- Enter and manage data within laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and other reporting platforms.
- Calibrate, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance and quality control procedures.
- Follow all site-specific safety policies, environmental regulations, and laboratory operating procedures.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and inventory of supplies and consumables.
- Communicate testing results and operational concerns to supervisors and laboratory personnel.
- Support special projects, investigations, and process improvement initiatives as assigned.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related scientific discipline preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent with relevant laboratory or industrial experience will also be considered.
- 1+ years of laboratory, field sampling, industrial, environmental, or refinery experience preferred.
- Knowledge of basic chemical laboratory practices and safe handling of chemicals.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and data entry systems.
- Ability to work safely in industrial environments and follow all applicable safety procedures.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform field work in varying weather conditions.
- Previous experience working in a refinery, petrochemical facility, or industrial manufacturing environment.
- Experience performing field sample collection and chain-of-custody documentation.
- Familiarity with ASTM testing methods and laboratory quality systems.
- Experience using laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Current refinery safety credentials or participation in industry-recognized contractor compliance programs.
