Job Title: Laboratory Technician II
Contract Duration: Contract- to- Perm
Location: Joliet, IL
Rate: $40 per hour
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician II to support daily laboratory operations within a large‑scale industrial processing environment. This role performs routine and non‑routine analytical testing to ensure product quality, process control, and compliance with internal standards. The Laboratory Technician will work under moderate direction while collaborating closely with lab supervisors and chemists to maintain high‑quality data, safe operations, and consistent testing reliability.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and non‑routine laboratory analyses, including wet chemistry and instrumental testing, on product and in‑process samples to support plant quality assurance and process control.
  • Prepare samples, chemical reagents, standards, and stock solutions following established procedures.
  • Conduct calibration, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance of laboratory instruments and test equipment to ensure accurate results.
  • Generate and maintain precise documentation, analytical records, and data reports in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Support investigations into quality assurance/control issues using analytical instrumentation and interpretation of test data.
  • Follow laboratory safety standards, housekeeping expectations, and compliance protocols.
  • Collaborate with chemists, supervisors, and operations personnel to communicate results and resolve testing or process concerns.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and method optimization as needed.

Required Qualifications
  • Polytechnic diploma or equivalent technical education in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Laboratory Technology, or related Technical/Engineering discipline.
  • Strong computer literacy and ability to work with data entry, LIMS systems, and standard lab software.
  • Understanding laboratory testing principles, wet chemistry techniques, and instrumentation.
  • Ability to follow SOPs precisely and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving skills, and ability to work independently with moderate supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in quality control, industrial laboratory testing, or plant‑support lab operations.
  • Familiarity with industrial QA/QC systems or refined‑product testing processes.
