Are you ready to take the lead in managing critical documentation processes that keep major energy projects moving forward?
We are supporting a global engineering organisation delivering large-scale EPC oil & gas projects, and they are looking to hire a Lead Document Controller to join their team in Rotterdam.
This is an opportunity to play a key role across complex deepwater infrastructure projects, ensuring the smooth coordination, control and expediting of both vendor and internal documentation.
Working within a fast-paced international project environment, you will help drive accuracy, efficiency and timely delivery across all documentation activities.
Based in Rotterdam on a hybrid working model (3 days office / 2 days home working), this is a full-time position offering long-term stability and exposure to high-profile global projects.
The Role As Lead Document Controller, you will oversee vendor documentation expediting activities, manage a small team of document controllers, and act as the main escalation point for all documentation-related matters.
You will work closely with vendors, project teams and internal stakeholders to ensure documentation is reviewed, tracked and issued in line with project schedules and quality standards.

Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing vendor and internal documentation workflows across multiple EPC projects
- Coordinating document review cycles and ensuring timely delivery of documentation
- Leading and supporting document control personnel
- Monitoring document schedules, reporting progress and identifying delays or risks
- Acting as the focal point for document-related escalations
- Ensuring compliance with project procedures and quality requirements
- Liaising with procurement, engineering, quality and project teams throughout the project lifecycle
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in document control and/or document expediting within EPC projects, ideally within oil & gas
- Strong understanding of document schedules and document management processes
- Previous experience managing or supervising personnel
- Experience using document control systems and expediting tools
- Strong communication and coordination skills with both internal teams and external vendors
- Comfortable working within multicultural and fast-paced project environments
- Experience with reporting, analytics and documentation quality control
- Experience with material expediting
- Familiarity with inspection, testing and commissioning documentation
- Knowledge of purchasing tools and supply chain management processes
- Experience managing third-party/vendor relationships
- Exposure to logistics or package management activities within EPC projects
- HBO degree or equivalent qualification
- Proven experience supporting large-scale engineering/EPC projects
- Must be willing and able to relocate to the Netherlands
- Hybrid working model based in Rotterdam
- Availability for a September or October start
- Flexibility to travel occasionally if required
