LNG Marine Contract Specialist

A Shipping company in Qatar is looking to bring onboard a Marine Contracts Specialist who can develop, negotiate, execute, analyse, evaluate all LNG shipping and other marine related contracts for the LNG Shipping Department of the Contracts team to ensure the firms interests and obligations are protected and performed as per contract terms. 

You will be required to perform all tasks related to Shipping obligations and compliance monitoring under applicable contracts and any subsequent negotiations or amendments to ensure that ship delivery / re-delivery notices, ship end-of-contract reconciliations, time charter performance warranty clauses, ship insurance verification, ship off-hire administration, bunker procurement terms, and any other contracts under management of the Shipping Department are properly managed and improvements sought.

Develop and distribute financial reports, including the Fleet Pooling reconciliation in accordance with the Fleet Pooling Agreement and associated procedure, to ensure appropriate allocation of Shipping cost to its respective venture.

Examine draft TCP Agreements, Sales & Purchase Agreements (SPAs), Master SPAs (MSPAs), Confirmation Notices (CNs) and other Marine Contracts to ensure that all Shipping related information has been carefully reviewed in line with existing procedures as well as any prevailing operational and business requirements.

You will be responsible for administering over 100 contracts; many of which involve complex terms, performance mechanisms, and cost-sharing structures. This requires meticulous attention to detail, contract fluency, and effective engagement with external vendors to safeguard the commercial, financial, and reputational interests.

Qualifications
  • Class 1 Marine Certificate of Competency (Master Mariner or Chief Engineer) or Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Marine Studies or similar.
  • 8 years’ experience in shipping related field with some understanding of shipping contracts, terminology and fundamentals of voyage analysis.
  • Experience in ship contract performance reviews and claims settlement.
  • Prior use and knowledge of standard industry sources of information such as International Maritime Organization (IMO), Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF), Society of International Gas Tanker and Terminal Operators (SIGTTO), AtoBviaC etc.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Computer Literacy (MS Office).
  • Strong analytical skills including economic analysis; and verbal reasoning skills.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work well under time pressures with little supervision
