Materials Coordinator II
Location:
Sarnia, ON
Contract Length: 1 year
Schedule: Monday – Friday, on site. (8 hours per day).


Position Overview:
The Materials Coordinator is responsible for enabling effective end-to-end coordination of materials in support of project and site maintenance activities. This role serves as the primary interface between the business unit and Procurement and works closely with Planning, Inventory, Vendors, Buyers, and Maintenance teams. The Materials Coordinator ensures timely communication, alignment with business controls, and a high level of material and service fulfillment to support operational reliability and efficiency. This role is critical in supporting maintenance and project execution through effective materials coordination, inventory optimization, and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide input to develop a risk-based spare parts strategy that balances equipment reliability with cost optimization
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with cross-functional departments, promoting a continuous improvement mindset
  • Support the return of parts to stock or vendors for credit, including core management activities within a mining or industrial environment
  • Assist the business with system transactions and coordinate logistics for repair-and-return materials
  • Act as a key liaison between site operations and Procurement to ensure material availability and execution
  • Provide daily customer support through proactive communication and issue resolution
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Previous experience in related materials, supply chain, or maintenance role
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP material catalogs and search tools
  • Solid understanding of how materials are used within a plant or industrial environment
  • Advanced time management and prioritization skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to influence stakeholders with and without direct authority
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
