Position Title: Mechanical & Electrical Conduit Inspector
Location: South Carolina
Employment Type: Full-Time
Rate: $35-45/hr
Position Summary
The Mechanical & Electrical Conduit Inspector is responsible for inspecting mechanical piping systems—such as HVAC, chilled water, steam, and gas—along with electrical conduit installations across industrial, commercial, and infrastructure projects. The role requires a strong understanding of NEC and ASME/ASTM standards, with preference for relevant technical certifications.

Position Summary
The Mechanical & Electrical Conduit Inspector is responsible for inspecting mechanical piping systems—such as HVAC, chilled water, steam, and gas—along with electrical conduit installations across industrial, commercial, and infrastructure projects. The role requires a strong understanding of NEC and ASME/ASTM standards, with preference for relevant technical certifications.
Key Responsibilitie
- Conduct inspections of mechanical piping, including chilled water, steam, hydronic, natural gas, and process piping systems.
- Inspect installation of electrical conduit systems (PVC, EMT, RMC, rigid steel, etc.) for compliance with NEC requirements.
- Verify weld quality, pipe supports, hangers, insulation, valving, and joint integrity.
- Review materials to confirm compliance with ASME, ASTM, and project specifications.
- Ensure proper installation of conduit routing, grounding, bonding, and pulling systems.
- Document inspection findings and generate daily reports.
- Identify deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions with contractors and engineers.
- Conduct inspections for pressure testing, leak detection, continuity tests, and function checks.
- Participate in commissioning and system turnover activities.
- 4–7+ years of experience in mechanical piping or electrical conduit inspection.
- Strong understanding of NEC, ASME/ASTM standards, and mechanical/electrical installation practices.
- Experience with pressure testing and QA/QC procedures.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Certifications such as NICET (Electrical/Mechanical), AWS CWI, ASNT NDT Level I/II, or Mechanical Inspector certifications.
- Experience on industrial, utility, data center, or MEP-heavy projects.
- Technical degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering field.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Clear communication with field teams and engineering staff.
- Ability to manage multiple inspections across fast-paced projects.
