Assignment Title:

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and analysis of Turbine Hot Gas Path and Rotor components for HDGT and Aeroderivatives engines. Additionally, the Mechanical Design Engineer's responsibilities will include working with the Cross Functional Engineering teams and Global Supply Chain teams. The Mechanical Design Engineer will ensure that hardware will meet Product and Design Practice CTQs, by working closely with the Controlled Title Holders, Heat Transfer, Manufacturing, and Sourcing Teams on component and sub-system optimizations, focusing on: Design for Cost (Product & Total Lifecycle), Design for Variation, and Design for Manufacturability.

Responsibilities and/or Tasks to be Performed:

  • Mechanical design and analysis of Heavy Duty and Aeroderivative gas turbine components. Analysis focus will include evaluation of hot gas path and rotor components.
  • Execute the design or evaluation of assigned hardware using sound engineering practices and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
  • Participate and present in formal and informal technical reviews for all design tasks and output with Controlled Title Holders, following the documented NPI and RCA Processes.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering / Science from an accredited college or university
  • 4 to 8 years of Engineering analysis experience
Additional Obligations/Specifications:

  • Prior experience designing and analyzing turbine blades, nozzles, and shrouds and/or rotors using ANSYS
  • Proficiency in CAD software, preferably NX
  • Basic understanding of Engineering principles and the ability to utilize these skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in cross functional teams
