Reporting to the Chef Service Engineering (Engineering Team Lead), the role is responsible for mechanical design and detailed engineering activities, including piping, pipeline, static and rotating equipment. The position provides engineering support at the assigned site location ensuring compliance with company standards, industry codes and operational requirements. 

Major Duties and Principle Areas:
•    Demonstrate solid experience in mechanical, piping and pipeline engineering design in the oil and gas industry, preferably with a reputable oil and gas company / engineering consultancy / EPC contractor.
•    Supports piping, pipeline, mechanical (static and rotating equipment) engineering needs across the Upstream Facilities organization.
•    Conducts detailed technical evaluations to resolve issues in collaboration with engineering consultants, operations and maintenance team.
•    Performs routine engineering work independently and address complex problems with the guidance of Engineering Team Lead and Engineering Manager.
•    Provides technical assistance to Root Cause Failure Analysis teams.
•    Review project and engineering contractor deliverables to ensure compliance with project specifications, design practices, company standards, and best engineering practices. 
•    Deliverables may include P&IDs, piping arrangements, piping material specifications, pipeline engineering deliverables, stress analysis reports, specification and data sheet for static equipment (pressure vessel, package equipment and storage tank) and rotating equipment (pump and compressor), vendor proposals, and technical studies.
•    Participates in design reviews, risk assessments, HAZOPs, vendor qualification, and vendor bid evaluations (TBE).
•    Supports functional initiatives and maintains discipline documentation in line with Company (GB) standards. 
•    Develop engineering and project scope of works, ensuring deliverables comply with the applicable codes, standards, statutory and corporate requirements.                    
•    Act as technical authority for Company (GB) in the mechanical engineering discipline, providing technical leadership and approval across design/engineering, fabrication, construction, inspection & testing, installation, commissioning & start-up.
•    Support other GB departments including Operation, Production, Maintenance, HSE etc.
•    Ensure design integrity during fabrication through proper handling of site queries and proper application of QA/QC processes.
•    Familiar with Factory acceptance testing (FAT) requirements, procedure development and approval.  Attend FAT as required.  
•    Fully familiar with relevant design codes and standards including ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, API 5L, ASME Section VIII Div. 1 & 2, API 650, API 653, API 610 API 617 and API 618.
•    Familiar with mechanical and piping engineering discipline software (like Aspect Pressure Vessel, CAESAR II and Navisworks) . 
•    Responsibilities also include working as Project Engineer / Leader for Mechanical related projects at GB sites (as assigned by your line manager), managing brown field modification projects. 
•    Focus on the successful execution of the projects ensuring that they are on time, within budget and in accordance with; agreed project requirements, company specifications & standards and Algerian Regulatory requirements. 
•    Coordinate discipline interfaces across project phases and direct the contractor design efforts, considering safety, startup, cost and constructability.
•    Work within a multi-disciplined engineering team and interface with other GB departments.
•    Provides technical mentorship to junior engineers in the piping, pipeline, equipment discipline.
•    Continuously develop technical expertise in relevant technologies.
•    Following the MOC process to management for technical and commercial review/approval.
•    Prepare budget and estimates for outline project costs.

Qualifications and Experience Required:
•    BSc / BEng Engineering Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering discipline.
•    At least 8 years of experience in Oil & Gas industry, a large proportion of which should have been in oil and gas processing projects involved in detailed engineering of rotating and static mechanical equipment.
•    Detailed understanding of engineering equipment and materials used in an Oil & Gas production facility and how it works within the process.
•    Engineering knowledge and capability to perform detailed engineering reviews, perform and evaluate engineering analyses.
•    Strong technical, planning, communication and reporting skills.
•    Familiar with discipline related engineering software.
•    Working knowledge and understanding of relevant industry codes and standards.
•    Must be a self-starter capable of analysing and solving problems within his / her discipline and interfacing with a multi-disciplined engineering team.
•    Good interpersonal skills combined with effective oral and written English 
•    Candidates preferably have effective oral and written French skills.
•    Able to work in on a 28/28 day rotational basis (12 hours per day 7 days per week whilst on shift) in a desert environment where outside temperatures can reach 50º C.  and transportation to the work location/site is via light fixed winged aircraft.
•    Have a good understanding of industry safety practices and be able to demonstrate general HSE cultural understanding and awareness for Oil & Gas facilities.
