We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Lead to join the Capital Works team of a major mining operation in North West Queensland.
The role will suit an experienced Mechanical Project Lead or Senior Mechanical Project Engineer who is comfortable working across the full project lifecycle, with a strong focus on front-end loading, project development and delivery of mechanical capital projects.
The Role Working within the Capital Works team, you will be responsible for leading mechanical projects from the early planning and development stages through to execution and completion.
The portfolio will cover a range of mechanical capital works across the mining operation, requiring someone who can provide strong technical engineering input while also managing the wider project delivery requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical capital projects through concept, feasibility, front-end loading, design and execution.
- Provide mechanical engineering expertise across project development and delivery.
- Manage project scope, schedule, cost, risk and quality.
- Develop project scopes, cost estimates, schedules and execution strategies.
- Work closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, contractors and other key stakeholders.
- Manage contractors and support procurement and construction activities.
- Provide technical oversight throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify project risks and develop practical solutions to ensure successful delivery.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely and in line with site standards and engineering requirements.
- Support commissioning, handover and close-out of completed projects.
Ideally, you will have:
- Mechanical Engineering qualifications.
- Strong mechanical engineering experience within mining, resources or heavy industry.
- Previous experience working within an open-pit mining environment.
- Proven experience leading and delivering mechanical capital works projects.
- Strong understanding of front-end loading, project development and project execution.
- Previous project management experience, with the ability to manage scope, cost, schedule and risk.
- Experience working with operations, maintenance, engineering and contractor teams.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- A practical approach to project delivery, with the ability to work through technical and operational challenges.
