We’re seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer with strong construction-site experience to lead the planning, coordination, installation, and commissioning of mechanical systems across [building/industrial] projects. You will bridge design and field execution—reviewing drawings, coordinating with trades, resolving site issues, validating quality, and ensuring safety, schedule, and cost targets are met.
Systems/Scopes may include: HVAC (chillers, AHUs, VRF), process & utility piping, plumbing, fire protection, equipment setting/rigging, sheet metal, mechanical rooms, test & balance, and controls integration.

Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Construction & Planning
- Review IFC drawings, specs, submittals, and shop drawings; flag constructability issues and value engineering opportunities.
- Develop installation work packages (method statements, ITPs, risk assessments) and material take-offs.
- Coordinate with design consultants, BIM/VDC teams, and suppliers on technical compliance and late design changes.
- Support procurement: technical bid evaluations, submittals, long lead item tracking.
- Provide daily technical guidance to site supervisors and subcontractors; ensure builds match design intent.
- Lead mechanical installations: piping, equipment setting, HVAC, plumbing, fire systems; verify alignment, supports, thermal expansion, and isolation practices.
- Oversee pressure tests, flushing, passivation, leak checks, hydro/pneumatic tests, equipment start-up, and controls point-to-point.
- Drive QA/QC: inspections per ITP, redlines/as-builts, punch lists, non-conformance tracking, and closure.
- Interface with structural, electrical, controls, and civil teams to resolve clashes and sequencing conflicts.
- Enforce safety (LOTO, confined space, hot works, lifting/rigging, working at height).
- Maintain daily logs, progress photos, RFI generation/response, and site reports.
- Coordinate with TAB vendors and commissioning agents; support functional performance testing and documentation.
- Compile O&M manuals, as-builts, training materials, and turnover packages.
- Support performance validation (efficiency, airflow/waterflow rates, noise/vibration targets).
- Assist in look-ahead planning, schedule updates (3WLA/6WLA), and resource leveling.
- Track productivity, materials, and change orders; support cost control and risk mitigation.
- Participate in client/GC coordination meetings and progress reviews.
- Degree: Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering (or related).
- Experience: +10 years in construction or EPC environments delivering mechanical packages (building or industrial).
- Technical:
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, piping/plumbing, and fire protection construction means & methods.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings (plans, sections, P&IDs, isometrics), specifications, and control sequences.
- QA/QC practices: ITPs, pressure testing, flushing, TAB coordination, equipment start-up & commissioning.
- Familiarity with relevant codes/standards (e.g., ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, ASME B31.x, local building/mechanical codes).
- Tools: Proficiency with BIM/2D tools (Navisworks for clash review, Revit viewer, AutoCAD), MS Project/Primavera (view/update), and Microsoft 365.
- Soft Skills: Strong field problem-solving, stakeholder communication, and contractor coordination.
- Safety: Demonstrated commitment to site safety and risk management.
