Mechanical Technician II

Main Functions Mechanical Technicians are responsible for executing maintenance activities on mechanical systems and equipment. 

• Assist mechanical engineers in planning and testing mechanical components, equipment, and machinery (e.g., engines, instruments, controls, robots, machines).
• Support preparation of proposals and cost estimates.
• Actively participate in all on-the-job safety programs and tools.
• Review job packs and identify safety issues; ensure mitigation prior to starting work.
• Execute maintenance work as per plan and record technical history in systems such as Global Reliability Tool (GRT) and data sheets.
• Provide feedback on job pack improvements to Execution FLS.
• Request permits and escalate to Supervisor if permits cannot be issued within 30 minutes of request.

Skills and Qualifications

• Certification in mechanical discipline or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong communication skills to clearly describe field conditions and recommend remediation steps.
• Effective team player with ability to collaborate across functions and assist others.
• Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent priority changes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Preferred Experience (Nice to Have)

• Ariel gas compressor maintenance.
• 3600 CAT driver maintenance.
• Rotating equipment maintenance.
• Centrifugal pump repair and maintenance.
• Use of alignment tools for pump-motor and compressor-motor alignments.
• Mechanical seal changes on process pumps.
