NDT Technician
Location: Houston, TX – 11915 FM529
Shift: Night shift, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM
Pay Rate: $27/hour
The NDT Technician is responsible for performing nondestructive testing and inspection on fabricated and machined components. The role includes interpreting specifications, setting up and calibrating equipment, completing NDT tests, evaluating results against acceptance criteria, and recording inspection data. This is an onsite role that requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

The NDT Technician is responsible for performing nondestructive testing and inspection on fabricated and machined components. The role includes interpreting specifications, setting up and calibrating equipment, completing NDT tests, evaluating results against acceptance criteria, and recording inspection data. This is an onsite role that requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform or witness inspections and testing for internal teams, external customers, and third-party inspectors.
- Read drawings, understand specifications and tolerances, and compare results with acceptance criteria.
- Conduct NDT and visual inspections on fabricated and machined parts.
- Set up, calibrate, and maintain NDT equipment.
- Record inspection data and communicate findings with engineers, technicians, and production personnel.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding quality of products, documentation, and services.
- Provide technical guidance to junior technicians and assist with training.
- Support development and modification of procedures and work instructions.
- Ensure all measuring instruments are properly calibrated and in-date.
- Assist QC inspectors and contribute to workflow documentation.
- Participate in health and safety activities, including reporting observations and supporting safety-related projects.
- Work night shift and support overtime or weekend work when needed.
- Minimum of 2 years of combined NDT experience.
- Texas State Industrial Radiographer Certification or ASNT IRRSP certification.
- Certified or certifiable to ASNT-TC-1A Level II in RT and PT.
- Basic working knowledge of digital and computerized radiographic techniques.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Ability to read and interpret ASME and ASTM standards and technical procedures.
- ASNT-SNT-TC-1A certifiable in UT and MT.
- Certified Weld Inspector (CWI).
- Extensive documented experience in Digital Radiography (DR).
- ACCP Level II or ASNT Level III in relevant NDT methods.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to mentor junior technicians.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Approximately 70% indoor shop work and 30% outdoor work.
- Exposure to airborne dust, radiation, loud noise, and other industrial conditions.
- Requires manual dexterity and ability to operate measuring and testing tools, hand tools, and power tools.
- Requires wearing PPE including safety glasses, steel-toe boots, body protection, and hearing and radiation-protection equipment.
- Must be available for overtime and weekend shifts.
- Classified as heavy work.
- Lifting requirements: 50–100 pounds occasionally, 25–50 pounds frequently, 10–20 pounds constantly.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and perform physical activities such as kneeling, crawling, climbing, balancing, and operating vehicles.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements and differentiate between colors.
