Payables Analyst

Location: Calgary, AB
Contract Length: 1 year
Schedule: 5 days on / 2 days off

Job Function
Responsible for the processing, tracking, verification, and payment of vendor invoices in compliance with established internal controls and procedures. Ensures timely and accurate invoice processing in accordance with policies and guidelines. Responsibilities include rate verification, confirmation of appropriate DOAG approvals, accurate date stamping and coding, and researching and resolving vendor inquiries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare cash disbursement vouchers and wire transfer requests with complete supporting documentation; route for verification of goods and services received, rate validation, and DOAG approval.
  • Submit approved cash disbursement vouchers and bank instructions to the local payment center for payment processing.
  • Code invoices in accordance with the Chart of Accounts and accounts payable guidelines.
  • Monitor contract expenditures and ensure compliance with contractual terms for non‑drilling contracts.
  • Track actual spend versus contract value and requisition amounts for planning and budgeting purposes; report variances or deviations to the BSM.
  • Update and maintain accurate logs for received and processed invoices.
  • Maintain organized, up‑to‑date files for invoices and all supporting documentation.
  • Assist the Drilling Controls Analyst with the processing of drilling‑related invoices and perform other related duties as required.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of closely related experience.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in modern communication tools and technologies, including Microsoft Office applications, email, telecommunications, and virtual or in‑person meetings.
  • Working knowledge of accounts payable processes and accounting systems preferred.
