Job Title: Pipeline System Engineer III
Location: Calgary or Edmonton, AB
Length: 1 year (with potential extension)
Rotation: 3 days in office (Mon/Tues/Thurs) and 2 days remote (Wed/Friday)
 
Role Summary
Provides intermediate to senior-level pipeline system engineering support for Enbridge’s liquids pipeline and facility assets. This role focuses on operational troubleshooting, system optimization, technical assurance, and the development and review of engineering deliverables. Responsibilities span operational support, hydraulic analysis, and multi-discipline project engagement.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in scope development for pipeline and facility projects, including pump stations, storage terminals, valve manifolds, booster pumps, metering systems, and tanks.
  • Complete and/or review feasibility studies, conceptual designs, process studies, and detailed engineering to ensure compliance with Enbridge processes, standards, and industry regulations.
  • Review and provide technical direction for PFDs, P&IDs, control philosophies, operating limits, and other engineering documents.
  • Conduct technical reviews—focused on process engineering—throughout the project life-cycle gating process.
  • Gather, interpret, and analyze operational data to develop technical recommendations.
  • Use hydraulic modelling and other engineering tools to assess pipeline system performance, troubleshoot design or maintenance issues, and issue formal technical recommendations.
  • Maintain proficiency with in-house and industry-recognized process engineering tools.
  • Participate in and lead PHA reviews as required.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to support engineering initiatives across the organization.
  • Provide contact engineering support for day-to-day system operations, including troubleshooting process engineering issues.
  • Lead Management of Change (MOC) related to system operational changes and improvements.
 
Role Scope
  • Ensures alignment with applicable codes, industry standards, and internal engineering practices.
  • Provides intermediate to senior-level technical leadership to support safe, reliable, and compliant system operations.
  • Contributes to operational risk management, optimization efforts, and technical quality assurance.
  • Supports the development of engineering strategies, system improvements, and technical documentation.
  • Influences technical decisions through data-driven recommendations and strong engineering judgment.
 
Qualifications
  • University degree in Engineering.
  • 7+ years of progressively complex experience in process and hydraulic engineering within the oil & gas industry.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province of Alberta.
  • Demonstrated technical competence in process design, hydraulics, and system engineering.
  • Working knowledge of liquids pipeline and facility operations.
  • Strong ability to analyze and interpret operating data to support decisions.
  • Solid understanding of relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, planning, organization, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, vendors, and service providers.
 
Working Conditions
  • Office environment.
  • Limited travel (≤5%) to other offices, sites, or field locations.
  • Valid passport required.
