Required Skills
- Strong process engineering background with at least 8 years’ experience in process and process safety engineering, preferably within the oil and gas sector
- In-depth knowledge of process safety risk assessment methodologies, including FERA, FTA, HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, ORA, and QRA
- Expertise in Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and functional safety standards, particularly IEC 61511
- Proven experience in LOPA facilitation, SIL determination, SIF design, and SIL verification
- Proficiency with process simulation tools such as Hysys (or equivalent); knowledge of Olga highly advantageous
- Familiarity with consequence modelling tools; Phast experience is a plus (training available)
- Ability to provide sound engineering solutions to close risk gaps in line with health, safety, environmental legislation, and company standards
- Solid experience with Management of Change (MOC) processes, incident investigations, and safety-critical task analysis
- Excellent communication and mentoring skills to support early-career engineers and graduates
- Functional Safety Engineer (FS Eng) certification or equivalent (e.g., TÜV, Exida)
- Working knowledge of Safety Case Regulations and COMAH requirements
- Experience in Safe Isolation and Reinstatement of plant operations
- Operational experience in hazardous areas and hazardous area classification updates per EI15
- Familiarity with offshore safety training certifications such as BOSIET/FOET, MIST, CA-EBS, and Offshore Medical
- MEng degree in Chemical and/or Process Engineering or equivalent qualification
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is desirable but not essential
- Minimum 8 years of relevant industry experience, ideally within major hazard facilities or oil and gas operations
- TÜV certification is essential for this role
- Must reside within the UK and have full rights to work in the UK
- Willingness to travel regularly to both onshore and offshore sites as part of your duties
