Product /Lead Design System – 12 Months contract – Paris, France
Hybrid – 3 days on site 2 days remote

Required: - Hybrid profile—someone who thinks before executing—capable of navigating systemic complexity. Minimum 3 to 5 years in designing & managing large-scale Design Systems, with a strong background as a UI Designer or front-end developer. Technical Skills: - Strong UI/UX principles & digital accessibility standards. Solid understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to effectively collaborate with developers. Ability to bring together multidisciplinary teams, influence stakeholders, & advocate decisions pragmatically (without dogmatism). A methodical mindset to structure & solve complex problems using logical thinking. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly evolving agile environment.
Design & Specifications: Advanced mastery of Figma (variables, auto-layout, shared libraries), Figma Make (behaviour testing), Storybook, & Supernova (or equivalent tools).
Collaboration & Research: Figma, Miro, or FigJam for ideation, along with user research & evaluation tools (usability testing, analytics).
Product Management: Daily use of Jira (backlog management) & Confluence as a living documentation hub.
Tech Culture: Familiarity with version control tools (GitLab/GitHub) to effectively collaborate with development teams.
My client is looking for a Product/Lead Design System consultant to lead the evolution of this “internal product” within the Design Studio (20 designers). Your role is to ensure scalability, visual consistency, & operational excellence across our 30+ squads. To support your onboarding, you will benefit from a knowledge transfer with the current Lead for a duration of 2 to 3 months, until full ownership of the role.
Profile Description (Product Owner & Strategist)
As the Product/Lead Design Systems Consultant, you will carry the product vision & orchestrate its evolution following an atomic design approach (Atoms, Molecules, Organisms) to ensure optimal modularity & consistency.
Product/Lead Design Systems Consultant responsibilities:
Product Vision & Strategy: - Own the Design System vision, define the long-term strategy, & deliver a clear product roadmap, while adhering to governance & delivery standards, also client brand.
Design & Maintenance: - Ensure the sustainability of the system by managing the backlog of new components & updates to existing patterns.
Technical Orchestration: - Coordinate the development team dedicated to component integration (2 full-time Angular developers) & ensure alignment between design & code.
User Alignment: - Establish alignment rituals with a panel of users (designers & developers) during design phases to ensure the system meets real user needs.
Design Kit Ownership: - Work closely with UI designers to ensure the quality, consistency, & continuous update of the associated Design Kit.
Cross-functional Contributions
Multidisciplinary Collaboration: - Work closely with the Design Ops Lead, UX/UI teams, & developers to integrate their feedback & anticipate future needs.
Evangelization & Adoption: - Promote the adoption of the Design System within the Factory & support business teams through change (demos, release orchestration, support/maintenance).
Data-Driven Management: - Collect & analyse system usage data. Define performance indicators (KPIs) & metrics to measure the real impact of the Design System on product velocity & quality.
Documentation: - Thoroughly document design rules, components, & patterns to ensure clear, seamless, & unambiguous use for developers.
