Project Controls Engineer

Our client, a leading mining operator is currently seeking an experienced Project Controls Engineer for a site-based role. This position will play a key part in project planning, scheduling, and cost control to ensure successful delivery across various brownfield and sustaining capital projects.

This role is on a 9:5 roster with FIFO from Brisbane. 

Key Responsibilities;

• Develop and maintain integrated project schedules using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
• Apply Critical Path Method (CPM) principles to identify milestones and guide project execution.
• Track progress against plans, forecast schedule outcomes, and prepare stakeholder status reports.
• Support schedule risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
• Work closely with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure schedule alignment and transparency.
• Regularly update schedules with the latest contractor and stakeholder inputs.
• Manage and allocate project budgets in accordance with internal requirements.
• Monitor, analyse, and report cost variances to maintain visibility of risks and deviations.
• Use detailed Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) for accurate cost tracking and reporting.
• Prepare cost reports, monitoring curves, and analysis packs as needed.
• Assist in reviewing and validating contractor progress claims.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in planning, scheduling, and cost control processes.
• Ensure all project control practices adhere to internal procedures and governance frameworks.

Skills/Experience;

• Proven experience in mining project controls, preferably in a site-based environment.
• Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and established cost control systems.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present complex data.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
