Desired Skills & Experience
  • Working knowledge of gas turbine and generator controls and auxiliaries including one or more of the following platforms:
    • GE Speedtronic MKV / MKVIe
    • Emerson Ovation
    • Woodward Turbine Controls
    • Aftermarket PLC Based Gas Turbine Control Systems
    • GE EX2000/2100 and Basler DECS Excitation systems 
  • Possess the ability to develop, modify and/or fully comprehend the following types of documentation:
    • One-Line Diagrams
    • Three-Line Diagrams
    • Control Specifications
    • Device Summaries
    • Connection Diagrams
    • Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (PIDs)
  • Electrical Process design including specification and selection of: Electrical and Control components, Low Voltage Power distribution (480 VAC/120 VAC) and electrical control devices and instrumentation.
  • Electrical design of packaged industrial control systems including panel layout, wiring diagrams, and power distribution.
  • PLC logic generation, testing, and troubleshooting.  A-B ControlLogix platform preferred.
  • MCC / Motor Controls and VFD design including component selection and programming / configuration.
  • AutoCAD Electrical design and creation of connection drawings.
  • Working understanding of typical industrial codes, including: NEC, UL 508A, CSA, ASME, ANSI, NFPA 70E, ISA, and OSHA.
  • 4-year Accredited Degree in Engineering Preferred.  Industry experience, Associate’s Degree, and/ or Military training with desired experience will be considered.  
  • Estimated travel is 20-30%

Role:

The Controls Project Engineer shall provide leadership, direction, and functional support 
  • Creation of preliminary design, drawings, and cost estimating for Proposal support;
  • Provide controls expertise in support of  Sales and Customer inquiries;
  • Design lead for PLC based A-B ControlLogix platform control system orders;
  • Application engineering and supporting calculations for engineered equipment and system components;
  • Detailed Electrical layout and connection drawing creation, review, and approval;
  • Project costs versus budget tracking and control;
  • Timely completion of all project orders, including addressing critical path issues;
  • In process system build support for rapid resolution of issues;
  • Factory testing and validation of system performance;
  • Customer interface for all technical project issues;
  • Provide technical and process improvement (through direct reporting) to the VP of Engineering.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Creation and preparation of cost estimates and proposals;
  • Creation, Review, and Approval of Electrical and Control Panel fabrication drawings using AutoCAD design software;
  • Review and Approval of general arrangement, routing, fabrication details, component location, and instrumentation diagrams using AutoCAD design software;
  • Review and ensure the project design and work packages fulfill all requirements of customer specifications.  Proactively identify and get clarification on any discrepancies;
  • Generation of Project Bill of Materials including drawings, specifications, and documents for procurement of materials, equipment, and services;
  • Prepare Vendor fabrication packages including Bill of Materials, Drawings, Testing Requirements, and any project specific requirements to complete work;
  • Collaborate with all employees to prove process and technical integrity;
  • Conduct interval and final checks on work-in-process;
  • Perform project closeout, with focus on lessons learned;
  • Site installation supervision, system commissioning, and startup.

Responsibilities include:
  • Accuracy of financial estimates and budgets;
  • Ensure projects are completed according to project plan, schedule, bills of materials, drawings, and specifications;
  • Provide project coordination and in-process quality control
  • Track and Provide status of projects, including issues and highlights, during design, fabrication, and installation phases.

Communications and Collaboration
Must communicate effectively in both oral and written forms, to a variety of stakeholders. He/she will disseminate clear and concise technical reporting essential for the products/projects and its team members and stakeholders.

Fiscal Responsibilities
Fiscal responsibilities include managing a budget for projects with interface with project management and direction of the senior management. He/She fulfills these duties drawing from a working knowledge of basic revenue models and cost-to-completion projections/budgets.
