Assistant Project Manager / Project Engineer (Owner's Representative)
Location: Abilene, TX
Schedule: Targeting 40–50 hours per week
Position Overview Our client is seeking an Assistant Project Manager / Project Engineer to support the delivery of large-scale construction projects in Abilene, Texas. This role works on behalf of the project owner, providing oversight and coordination across contractors, design teams, and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
The ideal candidate will have 1–3 years of construction, engineering, or project management experience, though strong recent graduates with relevant internships will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities
- Support project planning, coordination, and execution from design through construction.
- Review project documentation, drawings, specifications, schedules, and contractor submittals.
- Monitor construction progress and assist with tracking project milestones, budgets, and deliverables.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain project momentum.
- Utilize Procore, Bluebeam, and Smartsheet to manage project information, documentation, and reporting.
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates regarding schedule, cost, and construction activities.
- Assist with review and coordination of work associated with both above-grade and below-grade construction scopes.
- Structural steel systems
- Architectural and interior buildouts
- Building envelope and insulated wall systems
- Concrete foundations and site structures
- Underground utilities
- Stormwater infrastructure
- Site development and civil construction
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of construction, engineering, project coordination, or project management experience preferred.
- Internship experience on commercial, industrial, infrastructure, or mission-critical projects is highly valued.
- Working knowledge of Procore, Bluebeam, and Smartsheet.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and project documentation.
- Strong communication, organization, and coordination skills.
- Experience supporting projects from an owner's representative, consulting, engineering, or construction management perspective.
- Understanding of contractor oversight and project coordination rather than self-performing construction work.
- Exposure to both vertical construction and civil/site development activities.
