Position Overview The Project Engineer II supports the successful planning, execution, and delivery of capital projects by coordinating engineering, construction, project management, and project controls activities. This role is responsible for ensuring assigned work scopes are completed safely, efficiently, within budget, and according to project schedules and technical specifications. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to facilitate project execution and issue resolution while supporting project governance and stage-gate requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in Invitation to Tender (ITT) development, bid evaluations, and contractor selection processes.
  • Support the identification and procurement of long-lead equipment and coordinate engineering support through equipment assignment and project execution.
  • Coordinate the development and completion of project stage-gate deliverables.
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of project interaction and communication plans.
  • Coordinate project issue resolution processes and track outstanding actions to completion.
  • Manage and support project change management activities, including change requests and authorization processes.
  • Ensure assigned work scopes are delivered in alignment with project objectives, schedules, budgets, and quality requirements.
  • Engage project team members and functional resources to verify that engineering design and construction activities comply with applicable specifications, standards, and work processes.
  • Act as a key interface between the project team and contractors to promote effective communication and project execution.
  • Support smooth transitions between project phases, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Assist the Project Management Team (PMT) in the application of project management systems, processes, and best practices.
  • Monitor project progress and provide updates on risks, opportunities, schedule performance, and cost impacts.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, reports, and project deliverables.
  • Provide technical support throughout the engineering and construction lifecycle.
  • Serve as a backup to the Project Manager as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Experience supporting engineering, construction, project management, and project controls activities across multiple project assignments.
  • Broad understanding of project execution processes, design standards, engineering specifications, and work practices.
  • Demonstrated experience working in multidisciplinary project environments.
  • Strong leadership, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, tight timelines, and changing project requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience working on industrial or capital projects.
  • Knowledge of project stage-gate processes and project governance frameworks.
  • Familiarity with contractor management, procurement activities, and construction coordination.
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling, budgeting, and change management principles.
