Project Engineer - High Voltage Substations | Belgium

Are you an Electrical Engineer with a passion for power infrastructure and the energy sector? We are looking for a Project Engineer - High Voltage Substations to support the delivery of critical electrical infrastructure projects across Belgium.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-voltage systems ranging from 36kV to 380kV, contributing to projects that play a vital role in maintaining and developing the country's energy network.
The Role As a Project Engineer, you will be involved in the full lifecycle of substation projects, from initial concept and design through to commissioning and project close-out.
Key Responsibilities

• Support and manage high-voltage substation projects from definition through to completion.
• Participate in project studies, technical design, and engineering activities.
• Perform and oversee technical analyses and engineering calculations.
• Develop, monitor, and manage project budgets, schedules, and resource planning.
• Prepare tender documentation and support procurement activities.
• Coordinate on-site project execution alongside contractors, suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and ensure successful delivery against objectives.
• Provide regular project reporting and communication to stakeholders.
• Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with technical and regulatory requirements.

Depending on your experience level, responsibilities may be undertaken independently or with support from senior engineers and project leaders. A comprehensive development and training programme is available to support your growth.
Requirements Essential

• Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or equivalent engineering experience.
• Strong interest in electrical infrastructure, power systems, and emerging energy technologies.
• Fluent Dutch language skills.
• Excellent organisational and planning skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Customer-focused mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable

• Previous experience in project engineering, project management, or site supervision.
• Knowledge of high-voltage substations, transmission networks, or power infrastructure projects.
• French language skills would be highly advantageous.
• Experience working within the utility, energy, or electrical infrastructure sectors.

Location & Working Pattern

• Based in Brussels, Belgium.
• Hybrid working model available.
• Typically requires a minimum of two days per week on-site at project locations or company offices.

Eligibility Requirements For non-EU applicants:

• Valid work permit authorising employment in Belgium.
• Valid residence permit allowing legal residence in Belgium.
