Project Geologist

e are currently seeking an experienced Project Geologist to join an exploration team on a mining project in Far North Queensland.

This is a hands-on exploration role covering drilling, geological logging, sampling, data interpretation and field activities. You’ll be responsible for supporting the planning and delivery of exploration programs, while working closely with drilling crews, contractors and the wider geology team.

Key responsibilities:

• Plan and coordinate exploration and drilling activities
• Supervise drilling rigs and drilling contractors
• Ensure drilling programs are delivered safely, efficiently and within budget
• Log and sample RC and diamond drill chips and core
• Carry out geological mapping, prospecting and surface sampling
• Manage and maintain accurate geological and drilling data
• Interpret drilling results to support exploration and future drilling programs
• Generate geological cross-sections, plans and other interpretations
• Assist with identifying and prioritising exploration targets
• Monitor drilling, sampling and QA/QC activities
• Work closely with internal teams, contractors and other stakeholders
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, environmental and heritage requirements

Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year of field geology experience supporting exploration, resource definition or drilling programs; or completion of a 2 to 3-year geology graduate program with strong greenfield and/or brownfield exploration exposure.
• Practical experience supporting RC drilling campaigns, including effective coordination and communication with drilling crews and other site personnel.
• Demonstrated understanding of and contribution to geological QA/QC, data integrity, geological/core logging, sample management and database management.
• Strong technical aptitude and a genuine interest in developing deeper capability in resource definition and field geology.
• Confident communicator who is willing to raise concerns, identify potential issues and recommend practical solutions.
• Able to work effectively as part of a site-based team while demonstrating initiative, sound judgement and attention to detail.
