Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Lead to support a large-scale industrial construction project. This role will be responsible for driving a strong safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading all HSE initiatives on-site throughout the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate brings a hands-on approach, strong leadership presence in the field, and proven experience managing HSE programs within heavy industrial or construction environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee all site HSE activities to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for HSE compliance on the project
  • Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific safety plans, policies, and procedures
  • Conduct daily field safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
  • Facilitate toolbox talks, safety meetings, and training sessions
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, and client safety standards
  • Monitor contractor safety performance and ensure adherence to project requirements
  • Maintain accurate HSE documentation, reporting, and metrics tracking
  • Partner with project leadership to promote a proactive safety culture
  • Support pre-job planning, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and permit-to-work systems
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to safety performance and awareness
Qualifications
  • Minimum 8+ years of HSE experience in industrial construction, manufacturing, or heavy industry
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry best practices
  • Experience working on large capital projects (chemical plants, refineries, power plants, etc.)
  • Proven ability to influence and engage both leadership and craft workforce
  • Experience with incident investigation methodologies (e.g., root cause analysis)
  • OSHA 30-hour (required); OSHA 500 or CHST/CSP certifications (preferred)
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Preferred Experience
  • Background in industries such as oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, or heavy manufacturing
  • Experience with contractor management and multi-employer job sites
  • Familiarity with environmental compliance and permitting
Work Environment
  • Primarily field-based role on an active construction site
  • May require extended hours, weekends, or rotation schedules depending on project phase
  • Must be comfortable working in industrial environments with appropriate PPE
