Projects Safety & Environment (S&E) Advisor
12 Month Contract | 2:6 Roster (2 Weeks On, 6 Weeks Off) | Western Downs Field Based
We are seeking an experienced Projects Safety & Environment (S&E) Advisor to join a major upstream project team supporting construction and field execution activities across the Western Downs region
This is a 12-month contract role working on a 2 weeks on, 6 weeks off roster (2:6) with 11-hour days, offering an excellent balance of field work and extended time off.
About the role As the Projects S&E Advisor, you will play a key role in delivering HSSE support across project construction activities, ensuring safety and environmental standards are effectively embedded at the frontline. You will work closely with project teams, contractors, and operations stakeholders to strengthen risk management practices, improve compliance, and drive continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance.
This is a highly field based role where you will be present at the point of risk, providing coaching, challenge, assurance, and practical solutions to support safe execution of work.
Key responsibilities
• Provide S&E leadership across project and construction activities
• Support implementation of safety and environmental management systems
• Conduct on site assurance activities to ensure risks and controls are understood and applied
• Coach and influence frontline teams and contractors to strengthen HSSE culture
• Support risk assessments, incident investigations, and learnings
• Assist with contractor S&E management and performance improvement
• Drive compliance with Queensland safety and environmental legislation and standards
• Promote continuous improvement and simplification of HSSE processes
• Build strong relationships across project, operational, and contractor teams
About You
You bring strong frontline experience in safety and environmental roles within oil and gas, resources, or heavy industry construction environments. You are confident working on site, influencing stakeholders, and driving practical safety outcomes.
You will also have:
• Experience in field based or frontline HSSE roles on project or construction sites
• Strong understanding of safety and environmental risks in operational environments
• Experience with contractor management, risk assessments, and assurance activities
• Knowledge of Queensland WHS and environmental legislation (or similar jurisdiction)
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to coach, challenge, and influence at all levels
• A proactive, practical approach to improving safety performance
