Role Purpose:
As a member of the Christchurch Operations Team your primary role is to lead and manage the production process from the receipt of components though Inspection, assembly, test, calibration and packing ready for shipment - managing timescales, resource allocation and budgets.
Responsibilities include the production of all internally built projects/products including assistance with Spares and Service contracts ensuring delivery on time and in full, complying with company processes and standards.
This will include leading and managing a team to ensure that delivery requirements are met.
This is a hands-on role requiring leadership by example, coordination with Stores, SCM, Projects, and Engineering, and contribution to Through Business Planning activities.
The role also includes responsibility for EHS compliance within the workshop ensuring Primetals standards and all Safety, Quality and Business conduct expectations are met.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY / TASKS
- Responsible for the completion of all projects/products as required to meet planned deliverable requirements.
- Comply with all Quality requirements including completion of through build Quality packs, testing documentation and raising/resolving NCR’s.
- Co-ordinate production schedules and achievable delivery dates with other departments.
- Actively participate in planning meetings.
- Identify and manage risks within Production, escalating when required.
- Drive continuous improvement activities in the workshop including tooling, equipment, methods and processes.
- Leadership and mentoring of the Production Team, including apprentices, ensuring tasks are suitably allocated.
- Conduct annual appraisals, manage training needs, and undertake disciplinary discussions when necessary.
- Promote a positive and cooperative team culture and collaboration with other functions.

- Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to drive Production requirements through to completion.
- Understanding of Production disciplines (Mechanical & Electrical Assembly).
- Drive to resolve issues to meet Business and Customer needs and strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Effective communication with all levels of the organisation.
- Working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and requirements.
- Self-motivated and strong time management.
- IT literate with relevant business systems.
- Financial awareness for budgeting and cost control.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and Bills of Materials.

- Understanding of Goods inwards, stock control, planning, procurement, sales and engineering disciplines.
- Knowledge of site installations.
- Willingness to work domestically or overseas on sites during servicing or start-up, commissioning/installation activities.
- Overhead crane / forklift truck operation.
- Worked within an ISO environment. (Processes, procedures, Quality systems, work instructions, Risk assessments etc).
Experience:
Essential:
- Management of teams (5 -10 people).
- Track record of delivering multiple projects on time, in full.
- Working within a workshop environment.
- Strong relationship-building skills.
- Problem solving ability.
Desirable
- Experience with high tolerance Mechanical assembly and testing.
- Experience working within the Metals Industry.
EDUCATIONAL / PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Possess a formal qualification within Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience within a similar role with engineering background and at least 5 years within Engineering.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prepared to travel to customer and supplier sites, sometimes at short notice, and be available outside normal working hours.
