Job Title: Quality Assurance Engineer
Location: Calgary, AB
Length: 1 Year (with potential extension)
Rotation: 5 days on / 2 days off
 
Role Summary
Manages and develops the Quality Management System (QMS), implementing and improving quality processes while defining key requirements and deliverables for product inspections, qualification, and appraisal activities. Executes production inspections and ensures compliance with quality standards.
 
Utilizes Best Management Practices to independently set and promote quality expectations and requirements. The Quality Engineer is responsible for assessing compliance to quality standards both internally and externally and implementing effective corrective and preventative actions to address non-conformances and improvement opportunities.
 
Acts as the primary liaison with clients and third-party inspectors, ensuring that all work delivered aligns with the project quality plan, procedures, and instructions.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and develop the Project Quality Management System, including procedures, plans, and work instructions.
  • Monitor implementation of the Quality Management System through regular audits and reviews.
  • Perform and oversee product inspections, qualification, and appraisal activities.
  • Establish and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to evaluate quality performance across project phases.
  • Ensure QA requirements are incorporated into project documentation, contracts, and purchase orders.
  • Monitor compliance, identify non-conformities, and maintain accurate quality records.
  • Lead corrective and preventative action initiatives to resolve quality issues.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for client and third-party inspections.
  • Identify, assess, and manage risks that may impact quality objectives.
  • Participate in technical HSE and integrity reviews, providing quality-related input.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within quality and operational processes.
 
Role Scope
  • Ensures compliance with project quality plans, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Independently evaluates quality performance and enforces adherence to requirements.
  • Promotes a culture of quality excellence across project teams and stakeholders.
  • Supports continuous improvement and drives best practices in quality management.
  • Builds foundational competency while supporting smaller projects and gaining organizational knowledge.
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (relevant discipline).
  • Professional Engineer designation (or working toward certification) preferred.
  • Broad QA experience across design, construction, and project management.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in certain situations.
  • Capable of supporting senior engineers and contributing to technical initiatives.
  • Strong learning agility with the ability to quickly apply technical knowledge.
