Role Summary
The Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring that the client's Botlek plant operates in full compliance with internal quality standards, customer specifications, and applicable regulatory requirements. This role safeguards product integrity, drives continuous improvement, and strengthens the plant’s quality culture across operations, maintenance, engineering, and supply chain activities. The Quality Manager acts as the primary quality authority on-site and a key partner to both local leadership and the wider European Quality organization.

The Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring that the client's Botlek plant operates in full compliance with internal quality standards, customer specifications, and applicable regulatory requirements. This role safeguards product integrity, drives continuous improvement, and strengthens the plant’s quality culture across operations, maintenance, engineering, and supply chain activities. The Quality Manager acts as the primary quality authority on-site and a key partner to both local leadership and the wider European Quality organization.
Key Responsibilities Quality Management & Compliance
- Maintain and continuously improve the plant’s Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with clients global standards and ISO 9001 requirements.
- Ensure compliance with EH&S, REACH, PED, and other relevant Dutch and EU regulations.
- Lead internal and external audits, including customer audits, certification audits, and corporate quality reviews.
- Manage non-conformance processes, including root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and documentation.
- Ensure laboratory testing, sampling, and analytical procedures meet clients specifications and customer requirements.
- Serve as the primary contact for customer quality issues, complaints, and technical inquiries.
- Support product release decisions and ensure traceability of quality-critical data.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and Air Products’ operational excellence methodologies.
- Analyze quality trends, process deviations, and performance indicators to identify improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to optimize process reliability and reduce variability.
- Champion a proactive quality culture across the plant.
- Ensure accurate and compliant documentation of quality records, test results, and operational data.
- Maintain and improve digital quality systems and reporting tools.
- Oversee calibration and maintenance of laboratory and quality-related equipment.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to quality technicians and laboratory staff.
- Work closely with plant management, operations, maintenance, supply chain, and regional quality teams.
- Represent the Botlek plant in regional and global quality forums.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Quality Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in quality management within the chemical, petrochemical, industrial gases, or process industry.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, quality systems, and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience with root cause analysis, Lean/Six Sigma, and continuous improvement tools.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent in English; Dutch proficiency is highly preferred.
- Experience in a COMAH/BRZO or high-hazard industrial environment.
- Familiarity with gas production technologies (steam methane reforming, air separation, hydrogen purification).
- Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
